If you love sailing and are looking for a short refreshing getaway from Athens, then this tour is just perfect for you… Join us on board and let us show you the hidden gems of two Saronic islands in only 3 days! Just a few miles away from Athens, this is a unique and exciting sailing escapade that perfectly combines some adventure with culture, history and relaxation in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea… Whether you are a family, couples or a group of friends, you cannot miss it!
We will meet at the designated meeting point at about 8:30am on the first day, to hear all the necessary instructions you need to know for the boat tour . After you settle in your cabins, we will set sail to our first destination, Aegina Island, the first capital of modern Greece and famous for its pistachio nuts.
Upon arrival, you will be free to visit Aegina town, walk through its alleys with the charming shops or alongside the picturesque port, admire the beautiful neoclassical buildings and enjoy a cup of iced coffee or lunch. If you are a history aficionado, we also recommend you to visit the Temple of Apollo at the archaeological site of Kolona, which lies at a walking distance from the port. Once there, do not miss the chance to visit the Archaeological Museum, the first one to have ever been built in Greece (in 1829).
Tips: do not forget to buy some fresh fruits and vegetables from the floating groceries (traditional boats in the port selling fruits & vegetables), which you can enjoy on board and of course, fresh or roasted local pistachios! In the afternoon, we will sail to the quaint fishing village of Perdika, where you will enjoy dinner with fresh seafood. On our way there, we will stop for swimming, dives from the boat and snorkeling.
On the second day, after enjoying breakfast on board, you will take an exciting tour of Aegina inland and explore some of its hidden gems!
You will first visit the impressive Monastery of Saint Nektarios, that draws pilgrims from all over the Orthodox world. The faithful say that if you put your ear to Saint Nektarios’s tomb, you can hear the sound of his feet tapping. Behind the monastery lies the island’s medieval capital, Paleachora. We will follow the hiking trails to explore this abandoned “ghost town” with its numerous byzantine churches and enjoy the panoramic views of the Saronic Gulf.
Our next stop, before we return to our boat, will be the temple of Aphaea, located on a pine – clad hill at the northeast side of the island. This well-preserved Doric temple, dating back to 500 BC, is the most important monument in the sanctuary of Aphaea.
Early in the afternoon we will depart for the uninhabited tiny island of Moni, lying at a short distance from Perdika. Once there, you will enjoy swimming & snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters or go hiking through its pristine pine forest and come across beautiful fawns and peacocks! You can also enjoy a coffee or ouzo (Greek aperitif) at the only tavern on the island, by the sea. We will then sail away to the verdant island of Angistri, a natural paradise where we will stay overnight.
On the third and last day, you will relax and enjoy the serene landscape of pine trees touching the crystal clear waters of the Saronic Gulf. In the morning, you will be free to swim and snorkel in some of the island’s secluded beaches.
We will then make a stop either at the natural port of Megalochori or Skala to shop all necessary supplies for our return trip. We will reach Athens (Kalamaki marina) in the evening, where our wonderful sailing adventure will end.
