Your Relax in Antiquity day tour will start with a van picking you up at your hotel in the morning. A Beyond Athens guide will welcome you aboard and provide you with general info about the day’s itinerary and activities and hand you informative material on the area that you will explore.

First you will be taken on a guided visit to the Temple of Poseidon (5th century BC) at Cape Sounio. A mythological invented story, photo or sketch contest will be organized, with a surprise award for the winner. The Sounio tour will end, weather permitting, with a refreshing swim at a local beach. A light snack will eventually be offered.

Later in the morning the tour will drive you to Vravrona, on the East Coast, where you will enjoy a walk through the wetland created by mythical Erasinos River, guided visit of the Artemis Sanctuary and the gems of the attached archeological museum. For the nature and animal lovers, there also is the possibility to do the arrangements for birdwatching in the neighboring wetland (at an extra cost).

You will then visit the typical vineyard and the bioclimatic premises of a winery in Attica’s inland. After a tour throughout the domaine, the cellars and winery, during which you will hear about the land and its trademark wines. Finally, small servings will pair signature local wines in a delightful light lunch, before heading back to the hotel. For groups smaller than 10 persons, the lunch will be served in a nearby excellent local tavern.

The schedule of the program in winter changes with the wine tasting  and cooking show happening in the morning/ mid-day and the visit to Cape Sounio plus the dinner in the afternoon/ evening. A professional tour guide bears an extra cost.

If hot and sunny weather you will need sunglasses, hat, suncream, swimsuit, beach towel, and of course your photo camera! Our tour leaders speak many different languages. Trekking shoes and a light jacket recommended.

Single individuals are welcome to book the tour as well. If by the date of the tour minimum participation requirement is not met, a new date will be suggested or the client is free to cancel with full refund of the paid amount applying. If more people sign in for this tour on the specific date, partial refund may apply if the corresponding rate for shared group tour is lower than the paid amount at the time of booking.
