We will meet at Gate D at Piraeus Port at 7.30 am sharp. Our tour leader will greet you and provide basic info on the program of the day, before embarking on a high-speed ferry that will depart at 8.30 am. The trip lasts approximately 2 hours. As soon as we get to the quaint capital town of Spetses, we will enjoy a short walk also passing by historic Posidonio Hotel, one of the main attractions of the isle, and eventually enjoy a coffee in one of the nice cafes at the port.
Then we will pick up our mountain bikes and get started for our tour around the island. We will follow the coastal road, along the rugged and green shores of the northern side. After a short ascent, you will stop at the scenic Zogeria bay (km. 6) , where you will have the chance to swim in case of warm weather, we will continue to the Southern side. Some more uphill cycling ending to great panoramic views over the sea and the Peloponnese, before our main stop, which will be at the beach of Ayioi Anargiroi (km. 13, the middle of the route). A nice beach and cafe will be ideal for some rest. At one end of the beach we will explore the famous Bekiris Sea Cave, where islanders fled during an invasion of the Albanians, and where some scenes from great Greek movies were shot.
Leaving Ayioi Anargiroi we will head East and uphill following the road into the forest. After 8 kilometers we will be entering Spetses town from Ag. Marina. The old port will be the next point of interest that we will visit. As sunset time will be approaching, there will be a great light and moments to capture its sheer beauty with your photo cameras. With the bike tour coming to its end, we will return the bikes and still have some time to spend on the island. You can use this time to wonder around the alleys of Spetses town, shop some souvenir or local specialties, and sit in a seafood tavern to sample typical mezes and Greek ouzo.
The ferry leaves Spetses island at 7.30 pm, arriving at Piraeus port by 10 pm.
